Artists like Francis Newton Souza, M.F.Husain, S.H.Raza, Akbar Padamsee, Tyeb Mehta, Ram Kumar, Vasudeo Gaitonde, Jogen Chowdhury are no doubt some of the pioneers of Contemporary Art in India. However, gallery owner Harsh Gehani believes that India has a large pool of young talented artists and a lot more needs to be done to promote them at home as well as abroad. It was this idea that gave birth to Legacy Art Gallery (originally called Legacy World of Art) in 2004. Indian contemporary art is still in its infancy and we have a long way to go.

Located at Nariman point in the heart of south Mumbai, Legacy Art Gallery is a welcoming place, with an interesting mix of both established as well as upcoming artists. 

The atmosphere is informal. In addition to the exhibits on display, there are paintings are stacked against the walls, where people passionate about art can browse freely and buy.  

Now with the launch of our website, our clients & art lovers can view the current exhibition at the gallery as well as stored exhibits from the comfort of their own homes. As new works are being added all the time, we request you to use the “My Artist” feature so that you could be informed automatically whenever a new work of art is added.
